SHAH ALAM, June 19 — The West Asia geopolitical crisis that sparked a global energy crisis has pushed the Selangor government to launch 15 initiatives valued at RM209.26 million under Phase 2 of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP).
These initiatives were tabled today by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during a special Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting, with measures to ease burdens on farmers, entrepreneurs, and jobseekers, among others.
These 15 initiatives focus on improving the people’s welfare, strengthening businesses, providing jobs, developing talent, and encouraging the use of green technology.
The total SREP fund is now up to RM355.06 million, including RM145.8 million under Phase 1.

1. Rent rebate for business premises under local councils (RM4.5 million)
The state government will cut rent for business premises under local councils by 30 per cent for six months from July.
This initiative is set to benefit 21,234 traders and will be automatically activated without operators needing to submit applications.
2. Selangor Penyayang (RM14 million)
This initiative aims to improve public facilities to the benefit of communities throughout Selangor.
3. Selangor Advance (SA500) (RM100 million)
The Selangor Advance initiative will be expanded to facilitate cash flow for companies involved in state, district, and local government projects.
This measure is set to benefit 500 companies and contractors facing increased operational costs.
4. Interest-free financing for entrepreneurs (RM20 million)
With cooperation from Yayasan Hijrah Selangor and Platform Selangor (PLATS), entrepreneurs may apply for interest-free financing up to RM10,000 with a repayment period of three years.
This initiative is set to help 2,000 entrepreneurs start or expand their businesses.
5. Loan restructuring for entrepreneurs
The state government is offering loan restructuring for entrepreneurs affected by the current economic uncertainties.
Six thousand Hijrah Selangor borrowers may apply for the facility without added interest or penalty charges.

6. PLATS career transition (RM4 million)
This programme gives those who lost their jobs a chance to kick-start their career in entrepreneurship with training and exposure to basic business strategies.
Participants receive 12 months of internet aid, travel allowance, and access to the PLATS business ecosystem.
7. Selangor Career Programme (RM1.5 million)
Cooperation from various parties is involved in this job-matching initiative, targeting 30,000 jobseekers in Selangor this year.
8. Aid for agropreneurs (RM6 million)
The state government is increasing aid for 2,469 recipients in the agropreneur sector, including farmers and fishermen.
They will receive assistance such as vouchers for feed, fertiliser or fuel, and cash aid of between RM300 and RM600.
9. Smart Sewa moratorium (RM2.22 million)
Renters under the Smart Sewa programme are offered a three-month moratorium from October to December.
This initiative is set to benefit 1,012 renters statewide.
10. State housing loan moratorium (RM2.54 million)
The Selangor government is offering a three-month moratorium on repayments for state housing loans to 2,333 state civil servants.

11. Agropreneur financing (RM7 million)
Five hundred agropreneurs are offered funding of up to RM10,000 through Hijrah Selangor, with the state government bearing interest costs.
12. Kita Selangor Education Scholarship (RM17 million)
This initiative is targeted at outstanding students in high-impact fields of study, including electronics and electrical, life sciences, artificial intelligence (AI), and engineering and automation.
13. Teraju IKTISASS (RM20 million)
The Teraju Smart Selangor Technical and Professional Skills Initiative (Teraju IKTISASS) initiative targets talent development and upskilling.
Among its benefits is Google AI certification courses for 500 teachers in Selangor and the Malaysian Skills Certification for 1,000 people.
14. MamaKerja (RM5 million top-up)
The state government has added RM5 million for the MamaKerja initiative, for a total of RM10 million.
RM1,000 will be disbursed to 10,000 working mothers with children aged six and below, to help with childcare costs.
15. Full assessment tax rebate for green tech homes (RM5.5 million)
The state government will offer a 100 per cent rebate on this year’s assessment tax for households that install green technology, including solar panels, rainwater harvesters, recycling systems, food waste composters, and electric vehicle chargers.
