SHAH ALAM, June 19 — The state government will offer a 100 per cent rebate on this year’s assessment tax for households that install green technology systems, as part of efforts to accelerate Selangor’s transition towards a clean and sustainable energy industry.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the ongoing global supply crisis has underscored the urgency for Selangor to transition towards cleaner energy solutions and more sustainable development practices.
“For example, initiatives at neighbourhood and residential levels, including rooftop solar installations, rainwater harvesting systems, recycling, and food waste composting practices, as well as electric vehicle charging facilities, would help Selangor progress towards its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral state in the future.
“However, the state government acknowledges that cost remains a key barrier for many Selangor residents in installing such facilities at home.
“To encourage wider adoption of green and sustainable technology, Selangor will offer a 100 per cent assessment tax rebate in 2026 for households that install at least one of the aforementioned green technologies,” he said.
Amirudin was speaking during the tabling of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase Two at a special Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
He added that each local authority will allocate funds — RM100,000 for district councils, RM200,000 for municipal councils, and RM1.5 million for city councils — to support the initiative for the public's benefit.
