AMPANG, Jan 23 — The state government is making investments in digital infrastructure its main focus, with an eye on increasing productivity and improving administrative and service efficiency, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim.
He emphasised that a strong digital infrastructure forms an important foundation to drive the digitalisation agenda and smart city development for the people’s benefit.
“Coordination of digital infrastructure use could be done through state government subsidiaries, to facilitate the more effective sharing of systems and facilities.
“This approach not only prevents overlapping costs, but helps improve operational efficiency and productivity for the state,” he told Media Selangor.
Izham added that continued investment in digital infrastructure will present long-term impacts to Selangor’s economic growth and competitiveness as a progressive, resilient state.
On Tuesday, the Selangor administration received RM450 million from the federal government through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for the Selangor Smart City initiative, which boosts the state’s smart city agenda for the people’s well-being.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had said the initiative focuses on the use of technology to improve public service efficiency so it is faster, more transparent, and more effective, in line with the people’s needs.
