SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — The Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) has installed higher-capacity pumps on Jalan Resak and in Desa Subang Perantau to help stagnant floodwaters recede from Kampung Melayu Subang, said Kota Damansara assemblyman Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim
He added that a new pump double with the capacity was installed on Jalan Resak at noon today. The old pump moved to Desa Subang Perantau to complement the existing pump there.
“This is a short-term effort while we wait for the Sungai Pelempas (flood mitigation) project to start next year,” he told Media Selangor, adding that several areas along the river don’t yet have retaining walls, which could lead to more flooding even with today’s effort.
“We will try to make sure walls are built along Sungai Pelempas. This doesn’t include Sungai Pelumut, which is (on our radar),” Izuan added.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor government will expedite its 255 quick-win flood mitigation projects instead of just waiting for large, longer-term mitigation plans to be completed
He said 70 per cent of these projects, with a total allocation of nearly RM70 million, are done, while the rest will be finished by year end.
