SHAH ALAM, Nov 2 — Two temporary relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Petaling district as heavy rain this afternoon flooded several areas in the state, said Petaling District Disaster Management Committee chairman Huzunul Khaidil Mohammed.
He said the two PPS are Dewan Siantan in Kampung Melayu Subang and Dewan Resak in Subang Perdana.
Huzunul, who is also Petaling district officer, said the floods have been categorised as a Level 1 Disaster, and that the PPS, which were opened at 6pm today, will be available for as long as needed.
“All agencies concerned are expected to act according to their respective responsibilities to ensure disaster management goes smoothly,” he said in a statement today.
Besides Subang, the downpour also brought flash floods to Denai Alam, Puncak Alam, Sungai Buloh, Saujana Utama and Damansara Uptown, with several roads inundated.
Meanwhile, Pusat Wanita Berdaya supervisor for the Kota Damansara state constituency, Nurasyikin Maarum, advised flood victims who haven’t received food aid to contact her via WhatsApp or instant message at 013-3330423.
