SHAH ALAM, Nov 2 — About 70,000 candidates sitting for the 2026 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination will receive free breakfast throughout the examination period under a Selangor government initiative.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative aimed to help students better prepare for their examinations while providing support and boosting their morale.
"The state government is finalising arrangements to provide meals for 70,000 SPM candidates who began their examinations late last month.
"Throughout the examination period, we will provide breakfast or suitable meals for these students. Details of the implementation will be announced soon," he said.
Amirudin was speaking to reporters after officiating the symbolic handover ceremony for the Nutrisel and Mega Nutrisel 2026 programmes at Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi (SRAI) Section 19 here today.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the Selangor Mega Nutrition Programme (Mega Nutrisel), which is set to conclude next week, would benefit 993,670 students across the state.
He said the figure covered 962 schools, including students at fully residential schools, vocational colleges and Form Six colleges.
"We are providing this programme to all students on a one-off basis. However, the meals are lighter than those under the Nutrisel programme because we want to reach more than 993,000 students.
"In Shah Alam alone, nearly 120,000 students are benefiting. This school alone has more than 1,200 students," he said.
The Nutrisel programme provides free breakfast to more than 100,000 students from 962 schools across Selangor from August 3 to December 3.
Introduced under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package, the initiative has a total allocation of RM14.4 million and targets students from B40 households earning less than RM2,000.
The programme was expanded into Mega Nutrisel in mid-October as part of the state government's efforts to strengthen nutritional support for students.
