KLANG, Oct 28 — Free supplementary meals under the Mega Selangor Nutrition (NutriSel) programme have not only made Selangor children happy, but helps fulfil their nutrition needs when they are at school.
A student of SK Rantau Panjang here, Syasya Norkamila, 12, said she enjoys the food she gets.
Syasya, who is also a Supplementary Food Plan (RMT) recipient, said: “It’s nice to get free, nutritious and filling food. I hope this programme continues so it can help (needy) groups,” she told Media Selangor.

Her schoolmate Ammar Qayyum, 12, thanked the state government for the initiative.
“Thank you for conducting NutriSel. I like it because I get food like milk and bread that are delicious and nutritious. I hope this initiative continues,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy State Secretary (Development) Dato’ Johary Anuar said the Mega NutriSel event held today is an offshoot of the parent NutriSel initiative and serves all students in Selangor.
He added that this initiative provides children with breakfast so they eat enough nutrients to fuel their learning.
“This Mega NutriSel programme involves all students in Selangor and it reflects the state government’s concern in ensuring their welfare and nutritional needs are given attention.
“We also worked with Farm Fresh to distribute bread and boxed milk to students… I hope there will be more private sector participation in this programme so it can present more benefits,” he said at the Mega NutriSel event at SK Rantau Panjang here today.
Mega NutriSel saw 993,670 students from 962 schools statewide receive supplementary food including bread and milk. The event, launched yesterday, is being held until November 6 as a one-off event under NutriSel.
