BERLIN, Sept 23 — The 203km Kita Selangor Rail Line is set to connect Selangor’s northern and southern parts linking major areas such as Port Klang, positioning the project as a major economic catalyst and high-growth launchpad for the region.
State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said the rail line would help meet future demand while creating opportunities for international companies involved in rail integration, technology and manufacturing.
Ng said the project would strengthen Selangor’s connectivity and support the state’s position within the regional mobility ecosystem.
“Linking northern and southern Selangor with our industrial parks, suburban centres, and world-class Port Klang, it is a major economic catalyst and a high-growth launchpad for international integrators, technology providers, and manufacturers across Southeast Asia.
“Even as we seek international partnerships, we are equally committed to growing our homegrown enterprises alongside global leaders and integrating Selangor-based companies into world-class supply chains,” he said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Malaysia Pavilion at InnoTrans 2026 at Messe Berlin, Germany, yesterday.
Ng said the state government had provided a dedicated incentive for its delegation at InnoTrans, the world's largest trade fair focused on the rail transport industry, held every two years at the Messe Berlin exhibition centre.
The dedicated incentive, he said, would enable local industry players to build alliances, explore joint ventures and showcase Malaysia’s capabilities to the global market at the fair.
“InnoTrans has long set the gold standard for how nations move people, goods and economies forward and we are here, with genuine humility, to learn from the very best,” Ng said.
He said Selangor also holds the highest concentration of rail assets in Malaysia and has experienced both challenges and opportunities.
“And as these pass the twenty-year mark, we face both a challenge and an opportunity: to move from operating infrastructure to mastering asset lifecycle management, system overhauls, and smart digital integration,” he said.
Ng also added that Selangor’s strong digital economy would also support the development of a more advanced mobility sector, particularly as modern rail increasingly relies on smart signalling, automation and data-driven maintenance.
"Selangor is Malaysia’s primary economic driver, contributing over a quarter of national GDP, and led the nation with RM70 billion in approved investments in the first half of 2026 alone.
“This growth is powered by cutting-edge digital sectors, from semiconductors and AI to big data, cybersecurity, and the IoT, which reinforce our mobility sector as modern rail comes to rely on smart signalling, automation, and data-driven maintenance,” he said.
Ng also announced that the Selangor Rail Industry Hub would be unveiled later during InnoTrans 2026, urging industry players to explore opportunities for collaboration with the state.
The Malaysia Pavilion at InnoTrans 2026 brings together Malaysian stakeholders to promote the country’s rail industry and strengthen international cooperation in rail technology, infrastructure and mobility.
