One step away from sweeping football, futsal golds

The success of Selangor's men's and women's futsal squads in winning gold medals has been described as a catalyst for the revival of football in the state, with the aim of returning to dominance on the national sporting stage.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the achievement proves that Selangor's sports development efforts are beginning to bear fruit, with young athletes delivering outstanding performances.

The same fighting spirit was also displayed by the women's ten-pin bowling team as they recovered from a difficult position to produce a dramatic victory.

Dramatic bowling comeback yields gold

Trailing by 191 pins after the first block did not dampen the spirit of the Selangor women's ten-pin bowling squad, who fought back to win gold in the five-player team event yesterday.

Head coach Mustafa Yassin said his charges showed tremendous fighting spirit as they gradually reduced the deficit until the end of the competition.

The most thrilling moment came in the final frame, when Adania Mohd Redzwan needed to bowl two strikes to ensure the gold medal went to Selangor.
