PETALING JAYA, Aug 19 — Tenpin bowling mixed doubles pair Adania Mohd Redzwan and Muhammad Aiman Syahin Sulaiman today gifted gold to the state contingent at their SUKMA final here today.
At Sunway Megalanes, the duo dropped 2,468 pins to emerge champions.
The Selangor pair started slow in the afternoon showdown, but managed to climb to second place by their fifth set.
In the sixth set, both keglers were consistent and sidelined their competitors, eventually taking first place.
The victory was a sweet one for them, especially for Aiman, who missed out on medals in the individual and men’s doubles events, and for whom this is his last SUKMA.
“For the mixed doubles event, we didn’t have high hopes for a medal, but we focused on every match,” he told reporters after the match.
Meanwhile, Adania thanked her teammates for the moral support and said she will now focus on earning medals in the trio, team and masters events.
“I don’t want to say I’m aiming for gold, but I will focus on each throw and see what happens,” she added.
Adania has collected two gold and one silver for the Selangor camp so far, and still has the opportunity to take more before tenpin bowling events end on Saturday.
