SHAH ALAM, Aug 17 — A fire broke out in the forest near Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in Section 14 here today, involving an area of nearly 3ha.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call at 1.01pm and a team from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived on site four minutes later.
According to a statement from the Selangor JBPM Operations Room, the fire is confined to the forest and hasn’t spread to built structures or claimed any victims.
At the time of writing, around 60 per cent of the fire has been extinguished.
“Extinguishing is ongoing using fire beaters and water pumps from engines,” read the statement.
Ten Shah Alam BBP firefighters were mobilised for the operation, as well as a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT), Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT), and four-wheel drive.
Earlier, pictures and videos of the fire went viral on social media after smoke billowing from the site was sighted.
