SHAH ALAM, July 24 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the Yasin recitation, Tahlil, and Doa Selamat ceremony in conjunction with the state-level Warriors' Day celebration for 2026 at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah today.

His Royal Highness arrived at 12.30pm and was received by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

Also in attendance were the state executive councillor for Islamic Affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, the state executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail, the state executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepeneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

Others include the Selangor State Legislative Assembly's Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Dato' Salehuddin Saidin.

The ceremony began with the Tahiyyatul Masjid prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin, Tahlil, and Doa Selamat, led by Selangor Deputy Mufti Dato' Miszairi Sitiris.

The Ruler then listened to a Friday sermon entitled 'The True Meaning of Islamic Heroism' (Hakikat Kepahlawanan Islam), delivered by the mosque's Grand Imam Dato' Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, before performing the Friday prayers led by the mosque's Imam Abdul Karim Omar Maaseng.

During the sermon, the khatib reminded worshippers that the strength of an Islamic warrior lies in the unwavering belief that sacrifices made in the path of Allah SWT are never in vain, and that those who strive in His cause are promised immense rewards.

The khatib also called on the congregation to stand together in defending the Islamic faith, dignity, and the principles of Islamic law.
