SHAH ALAM, May 27 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj performed the Hari Raya Aidiladha sunat prayers with approximately 15,000 congregants at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah this morning.
Also present were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
The arrival of His Royal Highness with the royal family was greeted by Menteri Besar Dato’ Amirudin Shari, before Sultan Sharafuddin joined thousands of worshippers in performing the prayers, which began at 8am.
It was led by Imam Datuk Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, while the Aidiladha khutbah titled ‘Eiduladha: Faith and Sacrifice’ was delivered by the Selangor Mufti Dato’ Seri Anhar Opir.

In the sermon, Muslims were reminded to reflect on the story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS), which teaches the meaning of sacrifice, sincerity and obedience to Allah SWT.
It also emphasised that every success in fulfilling the obedience to Allah requires continuous effort and sacrifice, and that all acts of worship must be performed with full sincerity.
A survey at the mosque compound found large crowds arriving as early as morning to perform their Aidiladha prayers together with the Sultan, the Tengku Permaisuri, and the Raja Muda.
