SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced a Yasin recitation, tahlil, and special prayer held in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of His Royal Highness' reign.
Also in attendance was the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
The Sultan's arrival at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah was received by Tengku Laksamana Selangor Tengku Sulaiman Shah, accompanied by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Yasin recitation, tahlil, and special prayer, led by Selangor Mufti Datuk Anhar Opir, drew about 15,000 people, including officers and security forces personnel serving in Selangor.
Sultan Sharafuddin then performed his Friday prayers and listened to the khutbah titled ‘Dari Takhta Ke Hati Rakyat, 25 Tahun Menjunjung Daulat’ (From the Throne To the Hearts of the People, 25 Years Upholding Sovereignty), delivered by the mosque's Grand Imam Datuk Muhammad Farhan Wijaya. Sheikh Abdul Karim Omar Al Makki led the prayers.

The Silver Jubilee of the Sultan of Selangor’s 25-year reign is being held from September 28 to November 1, as a mark of the people’s and state administration’s loyalty, respect, and gratitude to His Royal Highness.
Twenty programmes and official events have been lined up, covering community affairs, religious activities, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development, and sports, with the celebrations' highlight scheduled for October 25, featuring three main ceremonies.
They include the Inspection of the Main Guard of Honour, accompanied by a 21-gun salute; the Proclamation of Titles and Oath-Taking ceremony; the Pledge of Allegiance by the Selangor Council of the Royal Court and Dato’ Diraja Selangor; and the investiture ceremony for Selangor State Awards.
The state government has also declared October 26 as a replacement public holiday in conjunction with the celebrations, following the state holiday on October 25, which falls on a Sunday.
