SHAH ALAM, June 25 — The state government has allocated over RM160 million to strengthen the implementation of welfare initiatives across Selangor.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the programmes include Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor, the Mesra Usia Emas scheme, and MamaKerja, to ensure assistance reaches those who need it most.
“Other initiatives such as Bantuan Rahmah Insan Istimewa, caregiving equipment assistance. and various community empowerment programmes are also being strengthened.
“No one should be left behind. We will continue striving to ensure assistance reaches those who genuinely need it,” she said in a Facebook post.
Anfaal added that 18,146 poor heads of household were recorded in Selangor based on data from the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, as of April 15.
As a result, the state government has adopted a more comprehensive approach through the Kita Selangor Voucher (BKS) programme by providing assistance to 50,000 recipients, far exceeding the number of poor heads of household recorded.
“However, the reality is that today’s economic challenges also affect many other vulnerable groups, including single mothers, those who have lost their jobs and families facing rising living costs.
“To us, these may simply be numbers and statistics. But behind every figure is a family struggling each day to ensure their basic needs are met and their children’s future remains secure.
“BKS is not merely short-term assistance but part of the state government’s rapid response to ensure more people receive support amid economic uncertainty,” she said.
