SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — Selangor is finalising a proposal to reopen new registrations for Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) and Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS).
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the proposal will be tabled to the Selangor State Executive Council (MMKN) for consideration and approval before it is implemented.
The state government is targeting a final decision on the matter in the third quarter of this year, no later than the end of September.
"We are currently finalising the proposal to reopen new registrations. The proposal will be presented to MMKN for consideration and approval before its implementation," she said in response to Sungai Pelek state assemblyman Lwi Kian Keong's query during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
Anfaal also announced that the state government has allocated RM55 million to implement SMUE and SMIS via the 2026 Selangor Budget.
The allocation reflects its continued commitment to ensuring that the welfare of senior citizens and disabled persons remains prioritised through both schemes.
