SHAH ALAM, June 24 — Phases One and Two of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP) were introduced to safeguard the state’s economic structure and assist affected communities and sectors following the crisis in West Asia.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that continuing geopolitical uncertainty is expected to significantly impact the supply of raw materials and services, with implications for Selangor's economic structure.

“This uncertainty is expected to continue at least until November, although many anticipate that it could persist through to December.

“Therefore, the state government has allocated approximately RM140 million for Phase One, followed by more than RM200 million for Phase Two, as part of our efforts to empower and support the people during this period of uncertainty,” he said during an interview with Selangor FM.

Amirudin added that the package was also designed to cushion the impact of ongoing disruptions to global energy supplies.

“The state government has also allocated RM20 million for upskilling programmes and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

“Similarly, there are initiatives to support those facing job losses or reduced income by helping them venture into entrepreneurship.

“Among other measures, RM6 million has been allocated to the agro-farming sector, while a further RM10 million to RM15 million has been provided for other sectors, particularly small and medium-sized industries,” he said.

The state government has allocated RM355.06 million under Phases One and Two of the SREP to address the impact of supply disruptions arising from the conflict in West Asia.

Of that amount, RM145.8 million has been allocated for Phase One, which is currently being implemented through seven initiatives, while a further RM209.26 million has been channelled towards Phase Two, which comprises 15 new initiatives.

The second phase was announced by Amirudin on Friday (June 19) as an additional measure to strengthen the state economy's resilience and help the public navigate current challenges.
