SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — The Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) recorded 212,124 job vacancies in Selangor between January 1 and July 10 this year, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.

During the same period, approximately 14,768 individuals were recorded as being in career transition, with 4,263 successfully securing employment again through various job-matching initiatives.

He said that one of the measures to support employers and reduce job losses was to strengthen labour market interventions through SOCSO.

"Among the specific programmes and measures implemented to support employers and reduce the number of individuals who have lost their jobs is strengthening labour market interventions through SOCSO, including profiling and job-matching sessions.

"We are also implementing upskilling and reskilling programmes to help workers acquire new skills in line with current industry requirements," Papparaidu said.

He was responding to Sungai Burong state assemblyman Mohd Zamri Zainuldin's oral query on the specific programmes to reduce the number of individuals losing their jobs, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.

Papparaidu added that the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package Phases One and Two, which comprise various initiatives to strengthen micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, are expected to stimulate economic activity while maintaining investor confidence.

The two state government initiatives, with a combined allocation of RM355.06 million, will indirectly help sustain businesses and employment opportunities in Selangor.

"The state government will continue to strengthen cooperation with SOCSO, industry players, employers, and relevant agencies to ensure that every affected individual receives support through appropriate employment opportunities, training, and interventions," he said.
