SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — Applications for the MamaKerja 2.0 Incentive, which offers RM1,000 in assistance to working mothers in Selangor, will open on Monday (August 17).
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the RM1,000 incentive for each recipient under the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP) Phase Two can be applied for through the Nine app by scanning a QR code.
The initiative can help ease childcare costs while enabling more women to work with peace of mind without compromising their children’s welfare and safety.
“The state government continues to take steps to address the realities of life today by continuing the MamaKerja initiative for working mothers who need safe and quality childcare support.
“I hope more working mothers will be able to benefit from this initiative for the well-being of their families and the future of their children,” she said in a Facebook post.
Last month, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said about 10,000 working mothers in Selangor will each receive RM1,000 through the Nine app once their applications are approved.
The new phase of MamaKerja had also been strengthened with an additional RM5 million allocation under SREP Phase Two, bringing the programme’s total funding to RM10 million.
The initiative is one of the Kita Selangor pledges included in the 100-day commitments made by the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalition to the people following the 2023 Selangor state election.
The assistance is open to working mothers with children under six years old and a household income of no more than RM8,000 a month.
