SHAH ALAM, June 20 — The Selangor Career Programme will empower those who lost their jobs due to current global economic uncertainties, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.
He said the measure, under Phase 2 of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP), will ensure the people and especially the B40 group continue receiving support.
He added that the initiative involves job-matching, reallocating labour, and providing more jobs.
“High-density areas like Shah Alam and Petaling will be given priority because these areas are among the worst hit by current global developments,” he explained after SREP Phase 2 was tabled during the special Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting here yesterday.
Papparaidu said his office will cooperate more strongly with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) to ensure job-matching can be done more effectively and accurately, based on SOCSO’s insightful data concerning the industry, employers and jobseekers.
Yesterday, when tabling SREP Phase 2, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the RM1.5 million fund for the Selangor Career Programme, which is jointly managed with SOCSO and companies in the retail, manufacturing and logistics sector.
The programme targets 3,000 jobseekers statewide this year.
