HULU SELANGOR, Aug 16 — A total of 5,785 jobs are being offered at the career carnival held in conjunction with the Selangor Resilient Women Tour (Hulu Selangor Zone) today.

State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said these include positions in the manufacturing sector, with salaries reaching RM9,000.

He said around 5,500 of the vacancies are for jobs in Selangor, while the remaining positions are for other states including Perak and Negeri Sembilan.

“We have openings for about 5,785 vacancies, including around 38 companies offering salaries of more than RM2,500, at about 63.5 per cent. This means 3,677 jobs offer salaries of more than RM2,700.

“This is an opportunity for locals, especially residents in this area, to participate, with 5,500 vacancies in Selangor alone, while the remainder are in the north, south; Perak and Negeri Sembilan.

“The most important sector is manufacturing, with 2,560 vacancies, while the rest are in sectors such as retail,” Papparaidu said when met at the tour launch here yesterday.

Separately, he said the state government plans to help preschool teachers without diplomas obtain credentials.

“We are offering help to school teachers who do not have certificates. At the Madani level, we are helping around 20 to 30 teachers who teach in schools or preschools and don’t have diplomas.

“The course will take three months, after which we will provide a Level 4 Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM), equivalent to a diploma. These are efforts to help our people rise out of poverty,” Papparaidu said.

The programme also saw the launch of MamaKerja 2.0, which provides RM1,000 in aid to working mothers in Selangor.

Moreover, the tour also featured an exchange of a memorandum of understanding between Wanita Berdaya Selangor and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), witnessed by state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

The first edition of the 2026 Selangor Resilient Women Tour was held in the Petaling Zone in June, followed by Hulu Langat in July and Hulu Selangor this month. It will continue until November to cover Gombak and Kuala Selangor.
