KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 — Comprehensively developed learning modules have become one of the key factors behind the success of the Selangor People's Tuition Programme (PTRS) in improving students' academic performance.
Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI's chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said every module used undergoes a rigorous development and evaluation process to ensure its content remains relevant and meets students' current needs.
Five development workshops are conducted to produce a high-quality module before it is used in teaching and learning sessions.
“The unique feature of PTRS is that we provide modules free of charge to students. The modules developed are of high quality and go through a meticulous preparation process.
“To produce a single module, we conduct five development workshops to ensure its content genuinely helps students prepare for examinations,” he said during the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre yesterday.
Azri added that, to date, PTRS offers eight modules covering both core and elective subjects, including Malay, Additional Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

Efforts to maintain module standards are carried out in close collaboration with the Selangor Education Department (JPNS) and the Education Ministry (MOE).
“We continuously conduct improvement and quality control workshops. At the same time, we obtain recognition from JPNS and the MOE to ensure that this programme remains relevant and of high quality,” he said.
Alongside printed modules, Yayasan MBI has also introduced the e-PTRS platform, which offers digital content to complement students’ learning process.
This combination of printed modules and digital learning creates a more flexible learning experience that is better suited to the needs of today’s generation.
Azri noted that they will continue to strengthen their existing educational programmes while collaborating with various state government agencies to extend the benefits to more students.
“We want to ensure that this programme, which has already proven effective, continues to be enhanced. If there are any shortcomings, we will make improvements and establish partnerships with more agencies to strengthen the education sector in Selangor,” he said.
