SMK Saujana Utama claim inaugural SES 2026 title

SUBANG JAYA, Aug 30 — SMK Saujana Utama emerged as champions of the SRG e-Sports School (SES) 2026 after defeating SMK Hillcrest in today’s final.

The inaugural tournament, organised by the Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, presented its awards through Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The champions took home RM3,000 in cash, while the runners-up received RM2,000.

Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said 100 students from 10 schools across Selangor took part in the four-month programme.

All participating schools received financial and equipment support worth RM100,000, as well as mobile phones, to give participants greater exposure, experience, and opportunities.

“Throughout SES 2026, students were exposed to discipline, teamwork, communication, event management, content creation, branding, ethics, leadership, and the skills required to understand e-sports.

“Given the encouraging response, next year’s edition of SES will involve more schools and students so that we can develop more e-sports athletes,” he said in his speech during the event.

Azri also announced that SMK Hillcrest player Muhammad Zulhadi Ediyaldi has been selected to join the SRG Academy as an apprentice after standing out throughout the competition.

“This is part of career development, enabling participants to become players who can compete on more prestigious stages without having to give up their education,” he said.

Last year, the state government organised the Selangor Future Cup 2025 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament, which was contested by 64 secondary schools across Selangor.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the tournament is an initiative to develop competitive e-sports talent among students under 17 across Selangor, while building strategic, leadership, and teamwork skills.
