PETALING JAYA, July 30 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has donated an equine therapy machine worth over RM13,000 to the Sofea Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PPDK Sofea) in Damansara Damai.
Its chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the machine, specially imported from abroad, will be used to support the therapy and rehabilitation of disabled children at the centre.
"This therapy machine is very important in supporting rehabilitation for the disabled children receiving care here. I am confident it will be put to good use so that they can fully benefit from it.
"The request was submitted by Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Pua Pei Ling to Yayasan MBI, and, Alhamdulillah (God be praised), we have been able to fulfil it today," he told Media Selangor.
Azri added that PPDK Sofea had previously received annual contributions from Yayasan MBI to support its activities, but this marked the first time the centre had received an equine therapy machine.
Meanwhile, during a separate programme, Yayasan MBI also presented RM3,000 compassionate aid to each of the three families affected by a fire involving three houses in Bukit Lanjan.
He said the assistance was provided as a gesture of the state government's concern to help ease the burden on victims affected by the incident, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
"Each victim received RM3,000 in compassionate assistance from the Menteri Besar. It is entirely up to them whether they wish to use the aid to repair their homes or to meet their daily living expenses," Azri said.
