SHAH ALAM, May 26 — The state government will continue emphasising high-impact economic projects under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that this endeavour is supported by the development of an integrated, modern and sustainable public transport network to strengthen connectivity between districts and Malaysia’s major ports.
Besides creating more jobs, he said these projects are set to expedite industrial logistics and facilitate the construction of transit-oriented developments.
“Selangor must be ready in terms of not only infrastructure developments, but also industrial ecosystems, skilled talent, and sustainable supply chains to support strategic projects like LRT3, ECRL, and the Selangor Rail Network.
“Rail industry development cannot depend solely on third parties, instead, Selangor must boost local capabilities, including in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), technology development, and the training of high-skilled workers so we can build a more independent and resilient rail ecosystem,” he said in a Facebook statement.
Amirudin also said the Selangor Talent Action Plan for the Rail Industry, developed by Invest Selangor Bhd, is an important move to ensure the state has enough talent and expertise to support the sector’s future growth.
He added that the initiative is in line with the state government’s efforts to strengthen the rail industry and empower local talent to fulfil industry needs.
Yesterday, he chaired a Selangor State Rail Industry Council meeting, which covered the direction of the rail industry ahead of the nation’s public transport transformation.
He also expressed gratitude to Prasarana Malaysia Bhd for hosting the meeting.
“I am very grateful for the commitment shown by industry players and agencies in fulfilling the sustainable mobility agenda for a future that is more progressive, connected and competitive for Selangor,” Amirudin said.
