SHAH ALAM, July 14 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said it would repair the pedestrian overpass across Jalan Ampang near the Ampang LRT station by July.

It said it received complaints about the damaged bridge and sent its Engineering Department personnel for a site inspection, according to a Harian Metro report.

It added that the repairs would be done on the roof and floor of the bridge.

“Repairs are expected to be done by the end of July 2026 with an estimated cost of almost RM50,000.

“MPAJ is always working to provide a conducive environment with various public infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of the community in Ampang,” it said.

The tiled floor of the overpass is reportedly so damaged that there are concerns for pedestrian safety, especially children and senior citizens.

Plus, the leaky polycarbonate roof causes rainwater to stagnate along the overpass, which makes the floor slippery and is a safety hazard for users.

MPAJ advised the people to be careful when using public transport, as repairing damage involves funds and time.

Complaints may be channelled to MPAJ on WhatsApp at 019-266 8100, through its hotline at 03-4296 8100, or on the MPAJ Public Complaints Management System (SPAB).
