SHAH ALAM, May 22 — Selgate Corporation Sdn Bhd will expand its healthcare footprint in Selangor with two new specialist hospitals: Selgate Specialist Hospital (SSH) Sepang, which opens in September, and SSH Setia Alam, which opens in February 2027.
Its group chief executive officer Datuk Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth told Media Selangor that as demand for quality healthcare continues to grow, Selgate is taking a measured approach to expansion.
“Apart from the high capital and operating expenses, we want to ensure every hospital we open has sufficient manpower,” he explained.
Noor Hisham said a main challenge in launching and operating the hospitals is meeting Health Ministry (MOH) requirements, which stipulate a 1:2 nurse-to-bed ratio.
This, he said, has become increasingly challenging as the country grapples with a shortage of nurses, with many healthcare workers opting to work overseas.

He added that Selgate Corporation is not rushing to expand beyond its current plan of opening seven hospitals nationwide by 2030, with a combined capacity of 1,000 beds.
However, Noor Hisham said the company’s immediate focus remains on strengthening its presence in Selangor before considering wider growth across Malaysia and internationally.
“We are not rushing into (going international) yet. We will do it in Selangor first, and then Malaysia. After running a few (hospitals), only then will we run internationally.”
In October last year, Selgate Corporation marked a major milestone with the launch of SSH Rawang, its first flagship private healthcare facility in the central region.
The launch of SSH Rawang reflects the company’s long-term vision to deliver quality, compassionate and accessible healthcare services to communities across Selangor.
The opening ceremony for SSH Rawang will be held on Friday, and will be attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
