SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — Selgate Specialist Hospital Sepang is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of this year, while Selgate Specialist Hospital Setia Alam is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027, said state executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
The opening dates for both hospitals remain subject to inspection and licensing approval by the Health Ministry's Private Medical Practice Control Section.
"Based on our experience in developing and operating Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang, both hospitals will be rolled out in phases to ensure services can commence as early as possible before being expanded according to local needs.
"The initial phase of development will focus on 24-hour emergency services, multidisciplinary specialist clinics and subspecialties, inpatient wards, operating theatres and endoscopy, diagnostic services (laboratory and imaging), allied health services such as physiotherapy and dietetics, as well as health screening services," she said.
Jamaliah was responding to Bukit Lanjan state assemblywoman Pua Pei Ling's query on Selgate Hospital during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
She added that Selgate Hospital will continue to provide high-quality healthcare services to the public despite operating as a private entity.
"Selgate Hospital falls under the private hospital category, similar to KPJ, even though it is owned by a Selangor government-linked company.
"However, I have held discussions with Selgate on delivering greater benefits to residents, where various programmes can be carried out in collaboration with the state government," Jamaliah said.
In October last year, Selgate Corporation reached a significant milestone with the launch of its specialist hospital in Rawang, its first flagship private healthcare facility in the central region.
The launch reflected the company's long-term vision of providing high-quality, compassionate, and accessible healthcare services to communities throughout Selangor.
The official opening ceremony of Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari in May.
Since commencing operations, Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang has grown to approximately 300 staff members, including 120 nurses, and is supported by nearly 30 doctors covering more than 20 specialist and subspecialist fields.
The hospital is also set to introduce cardiac treatment facilities, including a cardiac catheterisation laboratory (cath lab), by the end of this year to improve access to heart care services in northern Selangor.
