SHAH ALAM, April 15 — The solar energy and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors are becoming key drivers in shaping the future workforce, in line with the growth of data automation and robotic technologies in industry.

Selangor Human Resource Development Centre's (SHRDC) general manager Masliza Osman said workforce skills development must progress in tandem with technological changes to meet industry needs.

In this regard, the centre was established through collaboration among industry players and the state and Federal governments to produce a highly skilled workforce through training programmes and upskilling initiatives aligned with current demands.

“Our main focus is to ensure the workforce possesses relevant skills through training that meets industry requirements,” she told Media Selangor.

Masliza added that each programme is designed through engagement sessions with industry, while also emphasising practical training to enable participants to apply their skills in the workplace.

Demand for workers in the solar sector is increasing, particularly for system installations in residential and commercial buildings.

“Selangor is among the states recording high demand due to rapid development. Therefore, we are focusing on producing more workers in this field,” she said.

In addition to technical skills, Masliza noted that SHRDC also emphasises soft skills such as communication and critical thinking to develop a well-rounded workforce.

In line with the advancement of AI, related programmes have been introduced, including data automation, robotics, and practical applications, to ensure the workforce is prepared for technological changes.

“The rapid pace of technological development is a major challenge, requiring the syllabus to be continuously updated through ongoing collaboration with industry.

"SHRDC also offers flexible learning, including online classes and mobile learning, to broaden access to training,” she said.
