SHAH ALAM, July 9 — Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (TAWAS) members who have completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations can now enrol in a free solar installation training programme that comes with guaranteed job placement upon completion.
Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor chief executive officer Gan Pei Nei said the opportunity is offered through a collaboration with the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC), which is implementing the programme together with Yayasan Khazanah.
The initiative is targeted at SPM graduates, particularly TAWAS members who have reached the age of 18.
"During the roadshow programme under the Standing Committee on Education, SHRDC will set up a counter during the roadshow, and they can share information about this opportunity.
“This year, they are targeting around 200 to 300 youths to be trained with guaranteed job placement in the field of solar installation.
"Eligible participants will undergo the training free of charge, and after completing the course, they will be placed directly into employment, subject to the companies hiring them," she told Media Selangor.
Gan added that the training programme is already ongoing, with intake being carried out in stages, and a target of training between 200 and 300 youths this year.
"Any TAWAS member who is interested can contact us, and we will refer them to the relevant party.
“This is especially for those who are already 18 years old, and it is a suitable opportunity to pursue technical and vocational education and training skills," she said.
Previously, state executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin said the Selangor Green Economy Agenda 2025-2035 (SAGE) identifies the energy sector as one of the state's key economic drivers and a new source of revenue, while also reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
It focuses on expanding the supply of clean energy, reducing energy consumption, and encouraging changes in energy use and economic activities.
SAGE also includes expanding the adoption of renewable energy, particularly solar and waste-to-energy technologies, as well as upgrading infrastructure and grid systems to ensure a stable and sufficient energy supply for industries and consumers.
