SHAH ALAM, Aug 26 — Proficiency in robot teleoperation and generative artificial intelligence (AI) can boost employability and open new career opportunities for Selangor residents.
State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said future technology skills are important in helping the workforce adapt to changes in the employment landscape.
“Robot teleoperation and generative AI are not merely technology trends, but future skills that can enhance individuals’ value and open up new career opportunities.
“Digital transformation should not be viewed as a threat to workers, but rather as an opportunity to enhance skills and develop a more productive and high-value workforce,” he said.
Papparaidu was delivering his speech during the closing ceremony of the Robot Teleoperation Technology Skills Programme and Generative AI Technology Skills Programme at the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre today.
He noted that 80 participants took part in the two programmes, fully sponsored by the state government as part of efforts to empower people with relevant skills.
Cooperation between the government, training institutions, and industry must continue to strengthen to ensure the skills provided meet current labour market needs.
“Participants need to embrace the concept of ‘learning, relearning and upskilling’ — continuing to learn, relearn new things, and enhance their skills so that they remain relevant to industry requirements.
“I hope participants can become a new generation of workers who are willing to explore technology, try new things and adapt to industry developments,” Papparaidu said.
The councillor added that the state government will continue to focus on technology skills development programmes to produce highly skilled, innovative, and competitive human capital.
Access to such programmes should also be expanded so that more young people, youths, and professionals can enhance their skills.
“Technology skills programmes such as these need to be continued and expanded because Selangor needs a workforce capable of keeping pace with technological developments.
“With the appropriate skills, people can not only enhance their employability, but also seize opportunities in increasingly expanding high-skilled occupations,” he said.
