SHAH ALAM, March 10 — A total of 700 underprivileged families in the Kinrara state constituency received vouchers through the Jom Shopping Aidilfitri Programme to assist with preparations for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han said that on the same day, he also presented back-to-school assistance from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to 300 students.
The assistance aims to ease the financial burden on families, particularly in preparing their children for the school term.
“Hopefully this assistance will help brighten preparations for Aidilfitri and motivate the children to continue moving forward,” he said in a Facebook post.
Earlier, the state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication, Papparaidu Veraman, announced that 38,400 vouchers under the Jom Shopping Festive Programme for Aidilfitri will be distributed to eligible recipients this year, with an allocation of RM7.68 million.
The voucher distribution covers 56 state constituencies in Selangor to assist targeted groups in preparing for the festive season.
He said the validity period for the vouchers has been extended until March 20, up from the original March 18, to give the Muslim community more time to prepare and shop ahead of Aidilfitri.
