SHAH ALAM, Jan 22 — As many as 1,618 people have gained employment through the Selangor JobCare Career Carnival organised by the state government throughout last year, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.

He said the success is evidence of JobCare’s great impact on opening doors to jobs and improving Selangoreans’ quality of life.

“(JobCare last year) involved 40 employers offering 6,088 jobs, with 1,308 registrations.

“In terms of interview performance, 211 participants passed the first interview, 235 made it to the second interview, and 73 failed.

“For second interviews, 189 participants passed, for a total of 400 jobseekers successfully gaining employment through JobCare Istimewa,” he said in a Facebook post.

Papparaidu said his office will continue to empower JobCare this year with three main events — the JobCare tour across nine districts, JobCare Istimewa, and JobCare Premium.

He added that JobCare would offer job opportunities to vulnerable groups including the poor/asnaf, people with disabilities, Orang Asli, senior citizens, ex-convicts, housewives and women returning to the workforce, people who were laid off, and people who are homeless.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this year’s JobCare tour would be improved with the inclusion of certification and skills development programmes.

While tabling the 2026 Selangor State Budget, Amirudin said RM1 million has been allocated for the programme, which aims to lower the unemployment rate.
