SHAH ALAM, Dec 4 — Infrasel Sdn Bhd has carried out road patching works covering 6,000km across Selangor throughout the year, said its chief executive officer Mohamed Fariz Ghazali.
He said patching work is conducted daily, with a focus on critical areas or districts such as Klang and Kuala Selangor.
“Every day, Infrasel teams conduct patrols to identify potholes that need patching. Out of a total of 12,000 km of roads, we patch 6,000 km across Selangor…particularly in industrial and residential zones.
“In industrial areas, heavy lorry traffic causes road damage and affects road users, especially motorcyclists. In Klang, for instance, the soft soil conditions and frequent passage of heavy vehicles contribute to the problem.
“Therefore, it is important to ensure the patching is carried out with quality to prevent recurrence, and that the methods used are continuously updated in accordance with Public Works Department specifications,” Fariz said during the Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) 2025 today.
He added that Infrasel will soon visit China to exchange knowledge on new patching technologies, including those related to pavement materials.
“China has only recently adopted this technology, but they are open to sharing it with us, particularly regarding tar mixtures that do not involve carbon burning.
“With this technology, besides being environmentally friendly, the material mixture is also more durable. In addition, we have vehicles equipped with technology that detects underground pipes.
“We also collaborate with the Minerals and Geoscience Department (JMG) to obtain updated information on roads or high-risk slopes that require attention,” Fariz said.
