SUBANG JAYA, Nov 22 — Every company assessed for a state government project is chosen based on their abilities and contributions, not their owners or connections, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the Selangor State Executive Council isn’t involved in choosing concessionaires for the Selangor Intelligent Parking (SIP) initiative.
“The state executive council isn’t involved because the matter is handed over to Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, for screening, but it doesn’t check up to who the actual owners of the companies are.
“I believe the assessments don’t depend on who is written on the tenders, but instead the company’s capabilities and contributions in providing a better parking system,” he added.
Amirudin was speaking at the Selangor Hawkers and Petty Traders Day at The Roundabout in Putra Heights here last night.
He also said that a certain company has proven its capabilities by clinching projects in Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
Amirudin explained that if a company has a strong track record, there’s no harm in them being involved with the Royal institution, especially if the institution is a patron or chair.
Previously, claims emerged that a Selangor Royal was linked to a company that was awarded with three concessions under the state government’s parking privatisation initiative.
