SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has commenced upgrading works on sports facilities that will host events for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026 in Selangor, said its mayor Dato' Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.

The upgrading involves three venues: the Volleyball Hall in Section 4, the Tanjung Grand Hall in Section 19, and the Beach Volleyball Court, also in Section 19.

“For the upcoming Sukma, 11 sports will be held in Shah Alam, but under MBSA’s administration, we are only upgrading three venues. The remaining venues fall under the responsibility of their respective owners or managing organisations.

“The upgrading works cover suraus, facilities for disabled persons, seating areas, and lighting. MBSA is fully committed to ensuring the games' success, and the upgrading works have already started, with full completion expected by April next year,” he said.

Fauzi was speaking to the press during the Shah Alam National Integrity Dialogue (Diksa) 2025 today, officiated by Selangor State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin.

For the record, in addition to volleyball, other sports hosted in Shah Alam include futsal, sepak takraw, judo, karate-do, taekwondo, wushu, and fencing.

Sukma Selangor 2026 will take place from August 15 to August 24, followed by Para Sukma from September 5 to September 14. The opening ceremony will be held at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), while the closing ceremony will take place at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium (MBPJ).

This edition will feature 474 events across 37 sports, including 30 core sports like rugby, as well as seven additional sports such as e-sports, cricket, and silambam.

Nine districts and 12 local authorities across the state will serve as hosts, except for the track cycling events, which will be held at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
