PETALING JAYA, Nov 4 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is doubling down on enforcing trader regulations in PJU 8, Damansara Perdana, with over 100 compounds issued since January.
Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said 105 compounds have been issued to traders who have flouted their licence conditions, 91 for obstructing public spaces, 26 for illegal advertisements, and 2,387 for traffic offences.
“Just today, we seized items from two traders and five public obstructions. The MBPJ isn’t stopping anyone from selling their goods, but please follow the rules. Anyone who flouts them will face action under legal provisions and acts in force,” he said while leading an enforcement operation in the area last night.
The operation, which began at 10am and was joined by MBPJ deputy secretary (management) Mohd Fauzi Maarop, involved comprehensive checks on licence, technical, health and cleanliness compliance.
Ten traders and 21 premises were checked, with 22 compounds issued and seven premises ordered shut for failing to meet cleanliness standards. Nine vehicles were clamped and 404 traffic compounds issued.
The MBPJ also acted against illegal structures by issuing four warnings and four cease-work notices. One notice for a special rental lot was issued after checks on eight premises.
In a release, the MBPJ said it would intensify consistent monitoring and enforcement to ensure compliance.
