PETALING JAYA, Aug 27 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will channel assessment rate revenue increases to residents by upgrading public facilities and meeting community needs next year.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Dato’ Mohd Yazid Sairi said the revenue hike, thanks to assessment rate hikes approved by the state government, will be made use of to fulfil residents’ needs.

“We are expecting higher revenue thanks to state government approvals that increased assessment rates, and this revenue (can help identify) residents’ priorities and improve public facilities and (fulfil) community needs,” he added when met after he chaired an MBPJ meeting here today.

At the meeting, Mohamad Azli Jamaasim was appointed Zone 24 councillor effective August 15, 2026, to December 31, 2027.

Azli said he would become a bridge between the community and MBPJ to ensure local issues are addressed.

“We will bring community voices to the council to resolve issues that arise.

“I hope the council can work with us to resolve issues in the community and bring the council and communities closer,” Azli added.
