Prasarana denies Ampang Line train fire, viral video confirmed fake

SHAH ALAM, Nov 3 — Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has denied claims that a fire occurred involving an LRT Ampang Line train, as shown in a video that went viral on social media.

The Rapid KL system operator said the 26-second video was false and that no fire incidents had been reported at any of its facilities.

“Internal checks and confirmation from the operations team found that all train services are operating as usual without any disruption,” it said in a statement today.

Prasarana added that spreading false information of this nature could cause public anxiety and damage the reputation of Malaysia's public transport system.

“We will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any party responsible for spreading fake news or causing confusion,” it said.

The public has also been advised not to believe viral content easily and to obtain verified information only through Rapid KL’s official channels.

The video, which began circulating yesterday, appeared to show a train carriage on fire, but investigations revealed it was generated using artificial intelligence technology to create a fabricated scene.
