SHAH ALAM, Oct 13 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) continues its commitment to engaging with the multicultural community by organising the Deepavali Care Contribution Programme to help the underprivileged celebrate the festival more meaningfully.
The initiative began in Bukit Kemuning with 50 recipients comprising senior citizens, single mothers, and urban poor families, and will later be extended to other areas around Shah Alam.

Shah Alam Mayor Dato' Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said the programme aims to ease the burden of the Hindu community ahead of the Deepavali celebration next week.
“We handed over contributions to 50 recipients in Bukit Kemuning, consisting of two forms of assistance: RM100 in cash and essential goods worth RM170,” he told the press after the presentation ceremony at Dewan Aster in Section 32 today.
Fauzi added that the programme not only strengthens the relationship between the local authority and the community but also reflects the spirit of unity and compassion in line with the Malaysia Madani aspiration.
“This programme serves as a platform for us to reach out to the community and ensure no one is left behind in celebrating the festival,” he said.

Meanwhile, recipient Arthy Arumugam, 39, expressed gratitude for MBSA’s concern for low-income groups.
“Thank you to MBSA and the councillors for the bakul prihatin contribution, which really helps us celebrate Deepavali,” she said.

Another recipient, Sitha Narasimha, 44, also expressed her appreciation to MBSA.
“I am touched and thankful to MBSA for giving us the bakul prihatin contribution to celebrate Deepavali,” she said.
Parameswari Muniandy, 57, said the assistance helped ease her burden as the festival approaches.
“Thank you to MBSA and the councillors for this Deepavali aid, which really lightens our load,” she said.
