PETALING JAYA, July 16 — Selangor’s 5.2 per cent growth rate in 2023, which exceeded the national growth rate, highlights the state’s resilience and unity.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the victory was achieved despite hurdles posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions.

“But in the end, our hard work paid off, right? In 2023, we attracted a remarkable investment totalling RM55.3 billion.

“This achievement proves we have been on the right path, but this success is not just about numbers; it reflects our resilience and unity,” he said.

Ng added that the administration’s signature Selangor International Business Summit has positioned the state as a regional player.

“We believe in what we do, in promoting and pushing the Asean agenda, confident that Selangor will attract more interest from multinational corporations and Southeast Asian states.

“The ‘gateway’ we are building for investors into this huge market is becoming more attractive, as regional players recognise Selangor’s potential like never before.”

He said this during his speech at Invest Selangor Bhd’s silver jubilee celebration at Sheraton Hotel here last night.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognising the highest approved investment projects for manufacturing from 1999 to 2023, including Texas Instruments Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Wistron Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and NXP Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, the highest approved investment projects with Malaysia Digital Status included Dell Global Business Centre Sdn Bhd, Shell Business Operations Bhd, and ENTSERY Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
