SHAH ALAM, Sept 26 — Selangor is exploring new opportunities for cooperation in semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) with the Netherlands through a state delegation's visit to Axelera AI at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven this morning.
The delegation was led by state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, together with representatives from the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority Frankfurt, and Invest Selangor.
He said the delegation received a briefing from Axelera AI Business Development Director Syamak Nazary on AI semiconductor technology and the company's AI acceleration solutions.
“Axelera AI develops energy-efficient AI acceleration solutions, including Metis for edge AI, as well as a new European platform for enterprise and data centre applications.
“The discussions also covered potential cooperation between Axelera AI, the Netherlands’ semiconductor ecosystem, and Selangor’s growing semiconductor and AI ecosystem,” Ng said in a Facebook post.
He added that the discussions also covered opportunities to connect these ecosystems with the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park operated by SIDEC.
“Malaysia’s position, particularly Selangor’s, between East and West provides an advantage in connecting investors and industry players with key Asian markets.
“With Malaysia’s open and balanced trade policies, this position creates opportunities for semiconductor investment, technology cooperation, and cross-border trade,” Ng said.
The Selangor delegation also took the opportunity to invite strategic partners from the Netherlands to participate in the Selangor AI and Semiconductor Summit 2026, which is scheduled to take place next month.
The visit is part of Selangor’s efforts to expand its international networks and explore technology cooperation opportunities to strengthen the state’s semiconductor and AI ecosystems.
