SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — The 10th edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), which begins today, aims to strengthen Selangor’s position as a leading regional investment and business hub, building on its first international venture in Indonesia.

The four-day summit, running until Saturday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, is targeting RM8 billion in potential transaction value and at least 500 high-impact business-matching sessions as the state seeks to attract quality investments and deepen industry collaboration.

Organised by Invest Selangor Bhd, this year’s summit features seven flagship segments covering investment, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, technology, the care economy, and talent development.

These include the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK), the Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC), the Selangor Investment Forum (SIF), the Selangor TechSphere Summit (STS), the Selangor International Care Expo (SICE), the Selangor AI and Semiconductor Summit (AiSEM@Selangor), and supporting programmes.

This year, SIBS introduced two new components: STS and the Selangor Career Outreach (SCOUT) talent programme, which aims to develop local talent and match jobseekers with industry needs in Selangor.

Celebrating its milestone this year, the summit has firmly established itself as one of the country’s largest business expos, bringing together investors, industry leaders, policymakers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities and forge partnerships.

It showcases Selangor as a preferred investment destination and strengthens its role as a gateway to ASEAN.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said SIBS is not only targeting to generate potential transactions but also to build a comprehensive ecosystem for strategic industries, including semiconductors, aerospace, automotive, digital and creative industries, and the care economy.

The summit will support the objectives of the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) by facilitating industry partnerships, foreign direct investment and venture capital to develop strategic sectors.

“Every partnership and agreement established through SIBS is aimed at contributing towards Selangor’s broader ambition of becoming an ASEAN model for economic development and quality of life by 2030,” he said.

It was again proven successful following the inaugural launch of SIBS@ASEAN in Bandung, Indonesia, in July, marking the summit’s expansion into regional markets.

Invest Selangor chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said the inaugural edition attracted more than 400 participants from Selangor and West Java, with exhibitions focusing on education and medical tourism.

The accompanying business forum featured discussions on aerospace, rail and mobility, electrical and electronics, and the creative and technology industries, with participants expressing interest in exploring opportunities in West Java.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is scheduled to launch the SIBS 2026 this afternoon, with the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzukefly Ahmad among those expected to be present.

Since its inception in 2015 as the Selangor International Expo, SIBS has grown into a major trade and business platform. Its potential transaction value rose from about RM200 million in its early years to RM13.85 billion in 2024, with cumulative potential transactions reaching RM30.56 billion.

Last year, the summit recorded RM8.17 billion in potential transactions. It has also hosted more than 1,081 speakers and welcomed over 23,000 conference attendees, establishing itself as a platform for industry dialogue and regional business networking.
