PETALING JAYA, Oct 21 — The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) and Invest Selangor Berhad jointly organised Supply Chain Day Series 2: Exclusively for Data Centres, bringing together data centre operators, domestic suppliers, and industry stakeholders to anchor local participation in Selangor’s accelerating digital economy.

Held at the Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel yesterday, the co-organised event was officiated by YB Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility, alongside YBhg. Dato’ Hasan Azhari bin Haji Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad, and Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive Officer of Sidec. The programme convened 270 delegates, including representatives from ten data centre operators, government agencies, and industry leaders.

This initiative operationalises under the Local Economy Development (LED) policy, where

every new data centre investment in the state must have at least 30% local content, so that local companies, technology providers and workers share in the sector’s growth.

“Selangor has established itself as one of the region’s premier data centre hubs. The state’s priority is to ensure this rapid growth directly benefits homegrown enterprises by connecting them with investors, operators, and the broader industrial ecosystem,” said YB Ng Sze Han.

SIDEC Bridges Operators with Homegrown High-Tech Capabilities

To address technical and hardware requirements under the 30% LED mandate, Sidec facilitated direct engagement between operators and domestic technology providers.

During his presentation, Sidec CEO Yong Kai Ping highlighted opportunities for operators to leverage Malaysia’s growing engineering base, including tenants of the Selangor IC Design Park.

“The 30% requirement is already in place, and Sidec is here to make it seamless for operators to meet it with local capabilities that are already proven—from chip design and data storage to automation and cooling,” said Yong Kai Ping. “When operators look locally first, the entire ecosystem scales together.”

Eight organisations showcased solutions directly to operators during the technical pitching session: MaiStorage, SkyeChip, Weeroc Space, Kobay Technologies, Daikin Malaysia, DF Automation, TalentCorp, and Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU).

Bridge Data Centres Strengthens Ties with Invest Selangor Under BLAST

Underscoring corporate commitment to the state's localisation drive, Bridge Data Centres (BDC)—a Strategic Corporate Partner for the Digital Technology sector under Invest Selangor’s Business Linkages & Advancement Programme (BLAST) 2026—formalised its continuing collaboration with Invest Selangor through the exchange of an official Letter of Collaboration.

The letter was presented by Ms. Ezatul Yulisma Mohd Azman, Associate Director, Government & Business Relations at Bridge Data Centres, to Dato’ Hasan Azhari, witnessed by YB Ng Sze Han.

Through this collaboration, BDC reaffirms its commitment to Invest Selangor’s BLAST programme beyond 2026, anchoring domestic supplier development and industry engagement. The partnership will leverage Invest Selangor’s ecosystem initiatives, including Local Business Connect, to integrate local SMEs into BDC’s supply chain while paving the way for future capacity-building programmes.

Mr Eric Fan, Chief Executive Officer of Bridge Data Centres, said, “BDC is committed to strengthening local supply chains in the markets where we operate such as Malaysia, and creating more opportunities for SMEs to participate in the country’s growing data centre sector. Through our collaboration with Invest Selangor, we look forward to supporting local supplier development and building stronger industry partnerships in Selangor.”

“Invest Selangor’s mandate extends beyond bringing in capital; it is about anchoring investments so that domestic businesses thrive alongside global players,” said Dato’ Hasan Azhari. “Through BLAST and strategic partners like Bridge Data Centres, we are translating large-scale infrastructure inflows into viable, long-term procurement opportunities for local suppliers.”

Invest Selangor Launches Support Network (ISSN) for Investors and SMEs

Complementing the industry linkages, YB Ng Sze Han also officially launched the Invest Selangor Support Network (ISSN), a centralised digital directory and business-matching platform designed to connect incoming investors with vetted local professional service providers.

Covering ten priority sectors—ranging from M&E contracting, engineering, and town planning to legal, corporate compliance, and ESG consultancy—ISSN ensures investors seamlessly access domestic expertise required to establish and run operations in Selangor.

“Invest Selangor has long served as the primary gateway for investors entering the state,” Dato’ Hasan Azhari added. “ISSN extends that support well into the operational phase, giving our domestic professional firms direct exposure to global investment projects.” (Firms interested in registering may visit www.investselangor.my/co-registration or contact supportnetwork@investselangor.my).

The programme concluded with structured B2B business-matching sessions and a specialized 11-company exhibition. Following this second edition, Sidec and Invest Selangor plan to expand the Supply Chain Day model to other emerging high-tech sectors, including autonomous systems, robotics, and industrial drones
