SHAH ALAM, Nov 1 – Police issued 17 summonses yesterday to drivers caught misusing the emergency lane on Jalan Pintasan Pelabuhan Utara in Klang.
Klang Selatan police said they issued the summonses during a one-hour traffic enforcement operation that began at 5.30pm.
The operation was carried out by three personnel from the Klang Selatan District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPTD) to curb the misuse of emergency lanes.
"Such actions not only violate traffic regulations but also pose dangers and compromise the safety of other road users.
"Any misuse of this lane can delay the arrival of emergency assistance and potentially threaten the lives of those in urgent need of help," the statement posted on Facebook said.
In light of this, the police have reminded road users not to use the emergency lane as a shortcut when facing traffic congestion.
The Klang Selatan Police further emphasised that monitoring and enforcement operations will be intensified to ensure that road users comply with traffic regulations.
