AMPANG JAYA, Oct 28 — A decision on cooperation between the Selangor government and 11 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) state assemblymen is expected to be made soon.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said further discussions were needed before any decision could be announced.
"We will have to wait because this involves other lengthy discussions. God willing, we will make a decision soon, perhaps during the elections or before then," he said at a dinner held in conjunction with the reassessment of Gombak-Hulu Langat (GHL) Geopark's status last night.
Previously, media reports said Bersatu's Selangor assemblymen were expected to meet the state government soon to sign a cooperation agreement.
A source within the party revealed that the proposed cooperation would involve all 11 Bersatu assemblymen, who would subsequently be regarded as supporters of the state government.
The source said the plan would not be affected by the cancellation of Perikatan Nasional's (PN) registration by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), as the proposed arrangement involved only Bersatu.
Separately, Amirudin was asked about a statement by former Melaka DAP chairman Damian Yeo, who said he was prepared to leave politics if Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) gave up the Bemban state assembly seat to Bersatu in the Melaka state election.
Amirudin said all party members should respect the coalition's decisions.
As Harapan election director, he explained that such decisions were made following discussions and a comprehensive assessment of the situation.
"That is Harapan's decision, and all party members should respect the decisions made by their respective coalitions or party alliances.
"In Harapan, we discuss matters openly, taking into account all possible scenarios and outcomes," he said.
