SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) has tasked its election director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari with handling discussions on political cooperation, including any potential talks involving Bersatu.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he did not wish to elaborate on the matter for now, as it had been left to Amirudin to handle.
“(On cooperation talks, including with Bersatu) Amirudin will discuss that,” he told reporters after the Reformasi Pioneers Reunion Hi-Tea at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) today, as reported by Berita Harian.
Also present were Anwar’s wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar.
The development follows reports that Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had not ruled out the possibility of new political cooperation talks involving Harapan.
Muhyiddin was also reported to have confirmed that preliminary discussions had been held with several political parties as Bersatu explores potential cooperation ahead of the next general election.
Meanwhile, Harapan communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said current political dynamics could lead to various political realignments, given the unique political landscape in each state.
He said recent political developments could not be viewed through a single lens, as every state had its own political characteristics and dynamics.
This can also be seen in Melaka, where the state Harapan is holding talks with parties that share similar aspirations, including Bersatu, on forming a ‘PH Plus’ alliance ahead of the state election.
The PH Plus approach in Melaka does not currently involve BN, with the latest reports indicating that no talks have been held with the coalition.
