SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — The state government’s plan to cooperate with 11 Bersatu assemblymen remains despite Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) deregistration, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, as the partnership involves only the party.
“I need to assess the situation; perhaps in a day or two, we may have to make a decision on our position. This is an internal issue for them to resolve, (but) our arrangements are with Bersatu.
“A cooperation agreement will be signed once confirmation is received, likely after (October) 25 or 26,” he said when met at the launch of a collaboration between Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), and Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) today.
Earlier today, the Registrar of Societies (ROS) announced it had cancelled PN’s registration after the explanation submitted by the coalition failed to refute the grounds for deregistration stated in an earlier notice.
According to the ROS, PN didn’t offer compelling justification to maintain the coalition’s registration status, and its registration was cancelled under Subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966.
Previously, media reports said 11 Bersatu assemblymen were to meet with Selangor government representatives to sign a cooperation deal. Sources within the party revealed the assemblymen will be regarded as supporters of the state government.
