SHAH ALAM, Oct 8 — The Selangor government will decide whether to sign a cooperation deal with Bersatu before the state budget is tabled in November, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that talks are ongoing.
“It hasn’t been agreed yet. There is nothing out of the norm so far; it is just a discussion and it’s normal for a discussion to (include) some push and pull, some negotiation, some discussion and such… just that the talks are not over and we will inform if both parties sign a deal.
“As far as I understand, they have around 11 state assemblymen, or including one more, 12, including Datuk Rashid (Selat Kelang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari, so if all of them are involved, then praise be to God, but we will see how things go, because it is still too early for us to discuss and for me to say.
“We hope (to decide) before the state assembly budget session, but we will see. If all goes well and we can seal the deal, then we will,” he said when met after launching Jelajah Sejahtera Madani-People’s Well-being Insurance Scheme (SIKR) 3.0 here today.
Amirudin said the Selangor government will consider an earlier federal confidence and supply agreement (CSA) in its decision on whether to cooperate with the state opposition.
“It’s like the CSA deal in the last parliament; we are drawing on the experience and lessons learnt from the CSA between Harapan and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri,” he added.
Earlier, it was reported that Selangor Bersatu assemblymen would meet with state government representatives to sign a cooperation deal. A source in the party said that if the opposition assemblymen sign the deal, they would be considered supporters of the state government.
