SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 — Selangor will strengthen cooperation with the local authorities to expand arts and cultural programmes, particularly those involving younger generations.
State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the initiative, undertaken through the State Culture Standing Committee, aims to preserve arts and cultural heritage while fostering unity among Selangor's multiracial communities.
“The Selangor government, through the State Culture Standing Committee, will continue to strengthen cooperation with local authorities to expand cultural programmes that engage communities and foster unity in diversity,” he said in a Facebook post.
Borhan added that one such initiative was the Cultural Night held in conjunction with Fantasia Food Fest @ MPAJ 2026 at Laman Rekreasi, Tasik Tambahan, Ampang, which he officiated on Saturday (October 24).
Organised by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), it also featured an open dance competition for primary and secondary schools, involving 20 groups competing in the Malaysian Rhythms Dance and Silat Tari categories.
He also commended MPAJ’s commitment to promoting cultural activities through collaboration with schools, thereby encouraging younger generations to participate and helping ensure that artistic heritage is preserved.
Such efforts should continue to nurture the public’s appreciation of the arts and cultural heritage, particularly among young people.
